2011 - 2012I worked on an innovation related project at Embrapa headquarters. Previously, as part of my consultancy, I advised the President of Embrapa in the area of technology transfer.
Embrapa is the Brazilian government agricultural research institute founded in 1973. The institute has approx. 10,000 employees, including more than 2,200 research scientists, based at 47 decentralized research units throughout Brazil.
Embrapa is a world leader in tropical agriculture. Among its accomplishments are the transformation of the Cerrado into productive farmland and the tropicalization of soy.
Embrapa's accomplishments have been the subject of many publications, including the October 2010 Washington Post article "Brazilian scientists turning nation into an agro-power", the April 2010 Economist article "The Miracle of the Cerrado" and the October 2007 New York Times article "Scientists Are Making Brazil’s Savannah Bloom".
2010 - 2010I served as Chairman of AgriYield 2010: The Central and Eastern European Yield and Optimisation Summit. The conference was held in Prague, Czech Republic in November, 2010.
